Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band helped popularize "heartland rock", a blues and folk oriented form of rock originating in the Old Midwest. The genre is also associated with John Mellencamp. They have been phenomenally successful, with all of their albums being certified, almost all of them platinum. Seger had already been having success with his breakthrough album Beautiful Loser, which went double platinum despite not charting well. Their Greatest Hits went diamond. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When inducted only Seger was chosen, without his band. For many years Seger's hit Like a Rock was used as the jingle for Chevrolet trucks. Seger's work actually dates back to the sixties with The Bob Seger System, noted for their hit Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. Despite his immense success he was not even nominated his first seven years of eligibility. He was inducted by rapper Kid Rock.
