Bruce Springsteen is one of the most popular rockers of all time, with almost all of his albums being certified, especially Born in the U.S.A., which went diamond. He had numerous hit singles, some of them certified. He has one Oscar. He has two Golden Globes. He has numerous Grammys. He has a Tony. He is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has received the Kennedy Center Honors. He has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His song Born to Run has been declared the "unofficial youth anthem of New Jersey", which he has deemed ironic since it is actually about leaving New Jersey. The song Born in the U.S.A. has often been used in a patriotic fashion, which Springsteen has disliked because it is actually about a man going off to Vietnam and the hatred he experiences after coming home. Originally only Springsteen was inducted, without his group. His band was given the Award for Musical Excellence many years later. Due to the bluecollar themes of his songs he is often labeled as "heartland rock" despite actually being from New Jersey. He was inducted his first year of eligibility. Springsteen was a part of the charity supergroup USA for Africa. Album Born to Run has been preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. They performed the 2009 Super Bowl Halftime Show. He was parodied by Weird Al Yankovic with Midnight Star. There is an entire Sirius XM station dedicated to his work. Song Blinded by the Light was successfully covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He was inducted by Bono from post punk band U2.
