Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were an experimental rock act popular in the seventies. They were notably successful, with two gold albums and several other hits. Their hit Valley Girl features Frank's daughter Moon and is from the film's soundtrack. Only Frank Zappa was inducted into the actual Hall of Fame, without the Mothers. The whole group is mentioned in the Deep Purple hit Smoke on the Water. Frank once collaborated with Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band. He was inducted by Lou Reed. Album We're Only In It For The Money was preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.
