Neil Young is one of the most famous folk musicians of all time. Beginning as a member of Buffalo Springfield, he also pursued a solo career with the band Crazy Horse. In the seventies he continued to have success while also doing some collaborations with Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Stephen Stills of CSN had also been a member of Buffalo Springfield. In his solo career Young has garnered several certified albums with many others being hits. He has two hit singles with Heart of Gold appropriately going gold. He had numerous other rock hits. He has three Grammys. He is a peace activist. He was inducted his first year of eligibility. The Lynyrd Skynyrd song Sweet Home Alabama was written in response to his song Alabama. It was rumored it was written in response to Southern Man, but these rumors were later disproven. Southern Man is about nineteenth century slavery. He was inducted by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. He once collaborated with new wave band Devo.
