Pink Floyd was one of the most popular bands of all time, with their success spanning from the late sixties to the turn of the millennium. Named for two blues musicians, they began as a stoner metal band and eventually evolved into a space rock band, after the ambient style of psychedelic rock previously introduced by David Bowie. They are well known for their iconic film The Wall. Most of their albums were certified with two going diamond, The Wall going double diamond. They had two hit singles with Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 going gold. They have won one Grammy. Members David Gilmour and Roger Waters went on to have successful solo careers. In the eighties they adopted a style similar to that of Asia or Styx as times changed. Album Dark Side of the Moon was preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. Despite their immense success they were inducted their fourth year of eligibility.
