The Byrds were one of the most popular folk acts of the sixties in an era when people were seeking happy, pure, raw music. They accompanied the likes of Bob Dylan, Donovan, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. They had numerous hit albums. They had numerous hit singles, two of them chart-toppers. The song Turn! Turn! Turn! had its lyrics taken almost verbatim from the Ecclesiastes. They performed at the Monterey International Pop Festival of 1967. They were inducted their first year of eligibility. The Byrds were noted for covering Dylan, with such songs as Mr. Tambourine Man and My Back Pages. They also implemented the new East Indian influenced raga rock into some of their work. They were inducted by Don Henley.
