The Yardbirds were a garage rock band popular in the sixties. They were noted for having such members as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and Jeff Beck. All would go on to become famous after the group broke up. Clapton left to form psychedelic group Cream among other projects before going solo. Page and Plant went on to found Led Zeppelin. Beck had his solo career. All would end up in the actual Hall of Fame. The Yardbirds were one of the edgier bands of the British Invasion, a phenomenon begun in the mid sixties by The Beatles. They were inducted by The Edge of U2.
